PD - Monday October 27, 2014

Cooperation/ Teamwork

Here is the hadith that I read and Mr.Mbengue translated.

The Prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (s). was once traveling with his companions.  They stopped at a place to have something to eat and then rest. They decided to  slaughter a sheep and roast it.
One of them said, "I shall do the slaughtering."
The other said, "I shall remove the skin."
The third one said, "I shall do the roasting."
Each one of them volunteered to do one piece of work.
The Prophet of Islam said, "I shall collect and bring the firewood from the forest."
The companions said, "Oh Prophet! You need not take the trouble. We shall attend to  everything."
The Prophet said, "I know you can do everything. But I do not like to enjoy a  preferential treatment from you. God Almighty does not like to see a person  distinguishing himself from his companions." Thus the Prophet went and brought  firewood from the forest;
This is one of the examples set by the Prophet of Islam on  co-operation and working together for a common good.

Hygiene Week Poetry Winners

Congratulations to the 2 winners!

English winner - Aby, 8th grade and
French winner - Ndeye Marieme, 6th grade

Clean hates dirt
Clean hates dust
In Islam you have to be clean
That's a must

To avoid getting sick, wash your hands everyday
To take all of the germs away
Clean isn't mean
So just stay clean

We understand that many students are here with extended families who are excellent  caregivers, but are not capable to assist the students with the homework.  Even families hire  tutors to assist their children with their academics, but because these tutors are not familiar  with our program students may not receive the assistance they need.

The program is TUE, WED, and THURS evenings  5PM  until 6:15 PM
The students take a prayer and snack break 4:30 - 5 PM
The Triple A  teacher helps the student to become organized as well as helping him/her to complete his homework assignnments.

The teachers are like surrogate parents helping their students , reminding them to have good    behavior as well, calling them to come and review or prepare assignments outside of Triple A  classes.

Some students will be and have been obligated to Triple A.  We insist that students participate in  Triple A, if a students has been recommended.  Some families wait until the last minute to register their children into the program.  Please take our recommendations seriously,if your child has been  recommended for this program.
